Before you even ask, no this post isn’t sponsored. I don’t have it like that yet.
This is about my real experience with Rag & Bone, their bags, and my journey on finding the perfect work, play, and everyday arm candy.
The mission:
So, my main mission this summer was to find a bag for the following:
- Work – it had to fit my 15 inch macbook pro, a small makeup bag, keys, logitech mouse, wallet, and pass the commute test which is basically being safe from curious hands on the Bart (San Francisco Train).
- Play – it had to fit a small makeup bag, wallet, phone, sunnies, keys, and a few little things for days when I am out on the town trying to look cute without a lot to worry about.
- Everyday – it had to be small enough to not feel like I’m carrying luggage, but big enough to fit my camera, wallet, small makeup bag, sunnies, keys, phone, a snack, and anything else that might be needed for everyday days.
– The Bags –
Bag #1
Walker Convertible Tote
This bag fit all my work needs, it fit my laptop perfectly, along with all the other stuff I needed. Not to mention passed the commute test since it sat under my arm and left enough room to easily move to the front or back of my body when worn. The leather is also sooooo soft, so reaching for anything in my bag was a joy. And it’s simplistic look allowed me to feel super casual without feeling like a total brand queen (no shame in your brand game divas!).
Pros: big size, soft leather, SNAPS!, simple interior w/ coin pocket.
Cons: Inside has material that sometimes sheds, so anything silicone in this bag will come out with frays. I kinda wish the armstrap came with an option to my the handle tighter/shorter, a lot of my shorter friends worried it would hang too low.
Bag #2
Atlas Shoulder Bag
My favorite bag of the season! When I first laid eyes on this beauty I knew I had to have it. It fit all my basics and looks cute with basically anything. Not to mention it’s super easy to travel with since it unsnaps and lays flat. Which is a plus since we all know that feeling of overly bending out leather bags because we have to STUFF it into our suitcases. It comes in a ton of colors and while I usually choose black, I wanted something a bit more fun, which is why I went with the tan/navy. I am still eyeing a few other colors though.
Pros: SNAPS!, lays flat for travel, comes with two straps which can be combined to make a perfect long strap, beautiful details
Cons: The front pocket is a magnet (not the strongest), which I totally understand for easy access, but the whole thing is basically made of snaps, would of been nice to snap the front.
Bag #3
Pilot II Leather Backpack
So lastly, I needed an everyday bag. Something super easy, lowkey and good enough quality that it would not fail me halfway through the year. This is where the Pilot II Backpack came in very VERY handy. It not only held EVERYTHING I listed, but it also looks so gorgeous. While it is super lowkey, everyone and their mother asks about it whenever I hit the town. This bag comes with some pretty amazing features though, not only is it a backpack but it doubles as a handbag, and a wristbag if you’re feeling a little bougie. It has a perfectly hidden side pocket that is perfect for traveling since it can easily fit my passport holder, wallet, and/or touch up makeup. If there was any bag I would recommend to get on this list, this backpack would probably be it.
Pros: Lots of pockets, lots of space, latch lock on front which is just great, multiple ways to hold, beautiful design, lowkey.
Cons: latch lock is sometimes hard to attach (might be a personal issue though)
